Blue Bottle Coffee

When I moved from Shaw to Georgetown, I needed to find a new coffee shop. The folks at La Colombe recommended the newly opened Blue Bottle Coffee.
I couldn't be happier.
Let's start with the coffee. No shop is going to win my loyalty without great coffee. I can make a great coffee at home so to head out for one requires something special. In what must amount to 30-40 visits there has never been a misstep. Blue Bottle has managed to disperse their beautifully-roasted single origins and blends across the country along with the training required to maximize each cup they serve. Their staff is passionate about what they do and have the knowledge and experience to back it up.
Your coffee can be paired with a small, but a very-well-prepared selection of food; some sweet, some savory, all outstanding. I'm a particular fan of the ham and cheese baguette and the avocado toast.
The physical space is bright, cheerful and not too noisy. On warm days it is all open to the outdoors, and there is a lovely patio with a place to lock up your bike. Desi and Lucy (my dogs @desilucyboxers on Instagram) are regulars too! They dutifully wait outside for their treats because only service dogs can go inside.
Be forewarned; Blue Bottle is not a place where things are rushed. The drip coffees are pour-overs; the teas are carefully measured and steeped, the espressos are made with care. There is a Starbucks or a Peets on M Street for that.
